Fresh Start Services Incorporated was an idea that was started by a group of people with the goal in mind of servicing the community in multiple ways. It was designed for those feeling frustrated with what was going on around them, and having the desire and compassion to help out with the obvious problems in their neighborhood. Those problems would be classified as vacant and foreclosed properties, families losing their homes along with their income, property values dropping, as well as a lack of jobs, job skills, and idle time for the youth.

Wanting to give back to their community, three accomplished individuals decided to take it upon themselves to put their skills to work and do something about it. One of the individuals was a contractor, whose experience was with refurbishing homes, landscaping, and general contracting. The second was a instructor skilled in communication, bookkeeping, youth relations, and tutoring. The third was skilled at community development and management. They pulled their efforts together and used their own money to purchase some rundown foreclosed properties in their neighborhood, then remodeled and refurbished them. This created an opportunity for homeless families, people receiving low income and the elderly also out of work families to participate in the remodeling and designing process.

Fresh Start Services has successfully developed four properties, and has a youth crew living in the very neighborhoods that they are beautifying. They have been successful in learning the trades of landscaping, painting, roofing, hardwood flooring, drywall, kitchen and bathroom remodeling, electrical work, tile work,home energy consetvation, and yard cleanup. The hard work gives them inspiration, motivation and enhanced skills, while building self-esteem along with an immediate income.

Fresh Start Services developed a program in which the tenants of a property are charged a maximum of two-hundred fifty dollars per month,(which they eventually own) per household according to their income status. A portion goes to their annual state taxes for the property and the other portion goes towards paying the youth crew for the landscaping. This keeps the properties beautiful year around. It also allows for continuous employment for the youth work crew’s. All work is supervised by Fresh Start Services Inc.

We provide all tools, transportation and training with certified instructors. We maintain for the curb appeal of all homes. We also put families on a lease to ownership status with the property they live in with zero interest.

Our company strongly encourages permanent home ownership of these properties and trains in property maintenance of their home. Fresh Start requires its tenants to agree to and take part in management programs for their home and requires leases to donate one hour of their time each month towards neighborhood cleanup events. Any profits made are recycled, and used to help more families.
